Research With Youth, Families, and Communities
Our IHD approach to community-engaged research bridges the gap between academic knowledge and real-world action.
Community-engaged scholarship (CES) is a collaborative approach in which investigators partner with people outside the university — including government agencies, school districts, community organizations, families, and young people — to co-produce and inform scholarship that advances knowledge and addresses questions of immediate relevance for action.
This approach is critical to address urgent challenges in child and adolescence health and thriving. Aligned with Berkeley’s public mission and portfolio of public impact research, and in partnership with Innovations for Youth (i4Y), we are proud to lead and support UC-Berkeley’s community-engaged efforts in promoting health and wellbeing across the life course.
