Early childhood work at the Institute of Human Development conducts, connects, and collaborates on research — from neuroscience to public policy — highlighting the crucial role of early development and learning (prenatal–8 years) in lifelong thriving. We aim to partner with families, early childhood professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders to integrate this evidence into innovative practice and policy — and train those who will work to promote the health and well-being of young children and their families.
Our expanding knowledge base necessitates our sustaining this dynamic, integrated developmental science program that:
- Conducts cutting-edge scholarship through collaborations with children, families, caregivers, and teachers;
- Translates science into children’s diverse contexts, with implications for practice and policy; and
- Prepares professionals to work with and on behalf of young children and their families.
