Parking Instructions for Visiting the Department:
- If an IHD reserved parking permit has been pre-arranged for you,
you may park in one of the IHD reserved spaces. Permits must
be pre-approved before issuance. Please contact (510) 642-7239
for permit request and directions.
-
- If you do not have a parking permit, there are metered parking
spaces along Hearst Avenue, and there is also two-hour parking along
the hilly side streets off Hearst (free). It becomes difficult to
find street parking beginning in the late morning (after 10 a.m.)
and it stays crowded through the afternoon. There is a University
parking garage which is open to the public on weekdays after 5 p.m.
and on weekends. It is located on Hearst Avenue approximately four
blocks above Tolman, on the left at the corner of Hearst and La Loma
Avenues. This garage requires that you buy a temporary parking pass
on the third floor of the garage.
